 Safety Tips

  1. Stay Aware of Your Surroundings: Always stay alert and be aware of the people around you, especially in unfamiliar places or when walking alone. If you carry a purse, carry it securely between your arm and your body.
  2. Avoid Distractions: Don’t text, talk on the phone, or wear headphones while walking or driving, as distractions can make you more vulnerable. Don't open your purse or wallet while boarding the bus—have your pass or money already in your hand.
  3. Trust Your Instincts: If something doesn’t feel right, trust your gut feelings, and remove yourself from the situation if possible.
  4. Walk in Well-Lit Areas: Stick to well-lit, populated streets, especially at night. Avoid alleys or isolated areas.
  5. Walk with Purpose: Walk confidently and make eye contact with others. This can make you less of a target for criminals.
  6. Vehicle Safety: Always lock your car doors and roll up windows after entering or leaving your vehicle. Remove valuables from the vehicle or secure them in the trunk or someplace out of view. Auto burglars are opportunists who look for easy targets. Have your car keys in your hand so you don't have to linger before entering your car.
