CORE’s Juvenile Diversion Service takes the approach that not all youth who encounter Law Enforcement due to committing a criminal offense are best served by the Probation and Juvenile Court system. Therefore, licensed CORE therapists and registered Associate Therapists with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences work with youth who have been arrested for a minor offense. At the discretion and recommendation of the ACSO Deputy and Sergeant, the youth can be referred to diversion services at the CORE Behavioral Health Outpatient clinic in lieu of being referred to the Probation and Juvenile Court system. The therapists provide individual therapy, family therapy and case management services for the youth and their families. The youth are also referred to the Santa Rita Jail Youth Education Program and pro-social activities to increase the youth’s exposure to pro-social activities, to assist with building their self-esteem and to provide them an experience of the Juvenile Justice System and its potential impact on one’s life.

Services are offered in English and Spanish.  To access services please call (510) 667-3642 or email CORE-BHU@acgov.org
